Elementary School Says Little Girl’s Wonder Woman Lunchbox Is ‘Too Violent’ For The Classroom, Bans Superhero Images From School

A little girl was sent home with a note outlining the reasons why her “violent” Wonder Woman lunchbox would not be allowed back into the classroom. The elementary school noted that the Wonder Woman lunchbox was a violation of the school handbook due to the fact the female superhero was considered a “violent character” not because of any violence present on the lunchbox itself. That is right folks, an elementary school has deemed the entire Justice League, the Avengers and any other do-gooder superhero that may use force to overcome villains as “violent characters” and unacceptable for display in the school setting. The school was sure to point out that the image should not appear on the child’s socks either.

An image of the letter sent home with the child was posted to Imgur along with the offending lunchbox.

What atrocity against humanity is Wonder Woman thinking about committing in this “violent” headshot?

“As lovely as Aphrodite, as wise as Athena.”

The Imgur account user notes that despite the fact that no violence was present on the lunchbox, the school found the superhero lunchbox to be against dress code as it contained a “violent character.” The letter informed the parents that “violent characters” were defined as any character that solves problems using violence. It went on to say that “super heroes certainly fall into this category.”

Wonder Woman

“Dear Daniel and Sarah, we noticed that Laura has a Wonder Woman lunchbox that features a super hero image. In keeping with the dress code of the school, we must ask that she not bring this to school. The dress code we have established requests that children not bring violent images into the building in any fashion… We have defined “violent characters” as those who solve problems using violence. Super heroes fall into that category.Your cooperation with our dress code will be appreciated.”

Many comic book loving Imgur users noted that it seems that the writer of the note is not familiar with Wonder Woman or superheroes as a whole. It was noted that Wonder Woman’s lasso is really just a forced psychiatry session and not “violent.” In fact, the female superhero calls it her “lasso of truth” for good reason, it simply makes the person on the other end of the lasso tell the truth. It was also noted that most superheroes are strongly opposed to violence and only use force in self-defense.

Is the school way off base with the banning of superheroes due to their “violent” nature? Is Wonder Woman really a violent character with her lasso of truth?
